Succinct and astute. It's too bad that this wasn't published many years sooner. I haven't seen the book yet, but I wonder how the transcriptions compare to those of Andrew White's (most notable for his Coltrane transcriptions). Thanks for the heads up. Sounds great. There are some great paragraphs on the second page of the book where Chris writes about how he studied with Charlie Shoemake and Charlie would use Sonny Rollins transcriptions with Chris in their lessons. It's a shame that the transcriber doesn't get named on the cover of the book.
